Filmed in full 1080 High Definition, follow four hikers up the Valley encountering history along the way.
We have found there is way too much history in the Middle Fork to cover the whole thing. So we opted to tell four stories from the 1890's through the 1940's. Wrapped in themes of old growth forests, rain and water, plus the beauty of the Middle Fork, enjoy stories of: - The North Bend Timber Company: Using old pictures and taped interviews relive logging in the 20's and 30's. We take a look at the men who logged, the town of Edgewick and its unfortunate demise, and the logging railroad. - Travel and Life: Retired US Forest Service Technician Dick Kirby tells stories about life and travels in the Valley. - Goldmyer Hotsprings: An interview with Beth Burman at the hot springs takes a look at Goldmyer's place in the Valley and history. - Dutch Miller Mine: We end the film at the very headwaters of the Middle Fork where we explore the story of this isolated mine. We worked with the Forest Service to locate and digitize tapes of interviews, taken in the 1980's, with men who logged in the Middle Fork during the 20's and 30's. These first-hand accounts narrate some of our stories. Listen as Herb Ray tells about a flood in the Valley: |
